A ₹2.5-crore bridge project over the Luna River in Kujang’s Badang area has remained incomplete for around five years, leaving residents of several villages struggling with connectivity. The old bridge was demolished in 2022 with a new bridge planned to connect villages and ease travel. However, even after five years, bridge construction has reportedly not begun. Residents of Badang, Pariang, Panpalli and other villages depend on the route for schools, markets, hospitals and essential work. A temporary road created until the bridge was completed has now been washed away in heavy rain, leaving several villages cut off from the outside world. Locals have alleged a nexus between the contractor and departmental officials. The contractor gave a response over the issue, while the Kujang RD SDO declined to comment. BDO Deepak Prasad Swain said the matter would be examined and necessary action taken.
