A major 50-foot breach has developed in the Baitarani River in the Rajkanika area of Kendrapara district. The breach has occurred along the Kanpur-Gunthal road, following which river water is now moving towards nearby villages. The breach has raised concerns over possible flooding in four panchayats and the impact on hundreds of acres of farmland. The situation has triggered concern among residents as water continues to flow towards inhabited areas.
