5.0-Magnitude Earthquake Jolts Nepal Amid Flood Devastation

ବନ୍ୟାରେ ଧ୍ବଂସବିଧ୍ବସ୍ତ ନେପାଳରେ ଭୂକମ୍ପର ଝଟକା। ରାତି ପ୍ରାୟ ୯ଟା ୩୮ ମିନିଟରେ ଭୂକମ୍ପ ଅନୁଭୂତ ହୋଇଛି। ରିକ୍ଟର ସ୍କେଲରେ ଏହାର ତୀବ୍ରତା ୫.୦ ରେକର୍ଡ ହୋଇଛି। ରାଜଧାନୀ କାଠମାଣ୍ଡୁ ସମେତ ଅନେକ ସ୍ଥାନରେ ଭୂକମ୍ପର ଝଟକା ଅନୁଭବ କରିଛନ୍ତି ଲୋକେ। କିଛି ଘଣ୍ଟା ପୂର୍ବରୁ ତିବ୍ଦତରେ ଭୂକମ୍ପ ହୋଇଥିଲା। ରିକ୍ଟର ସ୍କେଲରେ ଏହାର ତୀବ୍ରତା ୫.୩ ରେକର୍ଡ ହୋଇଥିଲା। ଭୂମିରୁ ୩୫ କିଲୋମିଟର ଭିତରେ ଭୂକମ୍ପ ହୋଇଥିବା ୟୁରୋପିଆନ୍ ମେଡିଟେରିନିଆନ୍ ସେସମୋଲଜିକାଲ ସେଣ୍ଟର ପକ୍ଷରୁ କୁହାଯାଇଛି। ଗତ ଗୁରୁବାର ଦିନ ବି ତିବ୍ଦତରେ ୫.୦ ତୀବ୍ରତାର ଭୂକମ୍ପ ଅନୁଭୂତ ହୋଇଥିଲା। .. ଗତ ଅଗଷ୍ଟ ୨୬ ତାରିଖରେ ନେପାଳରେ ଆସିଥିବା ଭୟଙ୍କର ବନ୍ୟାରେ ୧୩ଶହ ଜଣଙ୍କ ମୃତ୍ୟୁ ହୋଇଛି। ଲୋକେ ସ୍ବାଭାବିକ ଅବସ୍ଥାକୁ ଫେରୁଥିବା ବେଳେ ନେପାଳ ଏବଂ ତିବ୍ବତ ସୀମାରେ ବାରମ୍ବାର ଭୂକମ୍ପ ଚିନ୍ତା ବଢାଇଛି।

Earthquake tremors were felt in flood-ravaged Nepal at around 9:38 PM, with the quake recording a magnitude of 5.0 on the Richter scale. People felt the tremors in several places, including the capital Kathmandu. A few hours earlier, a 5.3-magnitude earthquake had struck Tibet. According to the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre, the earthquake occurred at a depth of 35 kilometres below the ground. Tibet had also experienced a 5.0-magnitude earthquake last Thursday. The repeated tremors along the Nepal-Tibet border have raised concerns as people in Nepal were returning to normal life following the devastating floods on August 26, which claimed around 1,300 lives.
