Balasore Orangutan Rescue: Forest Department to Probe Possible Smuggling Angle

ବାଲେଶ୍ୱରରୁ ଓରାଙ୍ଗଓଟାନ ଉଦ୍ଧାର ଘଟଣାରେ ଡିଏଫଓଙ୍କ ପ୍ରେସମିଟ୍ । ବର୍ତ୍ତମାନ ସୁଦ୍ଧା ଓରାଙ୍ଗଓଟାନଙ୍କୁ ଚାଲାଣ କରାଯାଇଥିବା ନେଇ କୌଣସି ପ୍ରମାଣ ମିଳିନାହିଁ। ତେବେ ଘଟଣାରେ ସ୍ମଗଲିଂ ଦିଗକୁ ନେଇ କଡ଼ାକଡ଼ି ତଦନ୍ତ କରାଯିବ ବୋଲି ଡିଏଫଓ ଇନ୍ଦଲକର୍ ପ୍ରତୀକ ପ୍ରକାଶ କହିଛନ୍ତି। ଉଦ୍ଧାର ପରେ ଫିଲ୍ଡ କର୍ମଚାରୀ ଓ ଭେଟନାରୀ କର୍ମଚାରୀ ସମସ୍ତ ଓରାଙ୍ଗଓଟାନଙ୍କ ସ୍ୱାସ୍ଥ୍ୟାବସ୍ଥା ଅନୁଧ୍ୟାନ କରୁଛନ୍ତି। ସମସ୍ତ ଓରାଙ୍ଗଓଟାନଙ୍କ ସ୍ୱାସ୍ଥ୍ୟାବସ୍ଥା ସ୍ୱାଭାବିକ ରହିଛି। ଘଟଣାସ୍ଥଳ ଓ ଆଖପାଖ ଅଞ୍ଚଳର ସିସିଟିଭି ଫୁଟେଜ୍ ଯାଞ୍ଚ କରାଯିବ। ଓରାଙ୍ଗଓଟାନ ଭାରତୀୟ ପ୍ରଜାତି ନୁହେଁ । ତେଣୁ ବିଦେଶୀ ପ୍ରଜାତିର ପ୍ରାଣୀ କିଭଳି ବାଲେଶ୍ୱରକୁ ଆସିଲେ, ତାହା ତଦନ୍ତର ମୁଖ୍ୟ ପ୍ରସଙ୍ଗ ହେବ । ରାଙ୍ଗଓଟାନମାନେ ସ୍ଥଳପଥ ଓ ଜଳପଥ ଦେଇ ବାଲେଶ୍ୱରକୁ ଆସିଥାଇପାରନ୍ତି ବୋଲି ବନ ବିଭାଗ ଅନୁମାନ କରୁଛି । ତେଣୁ ଏହି ଦୁଇଟି ଦିଗକୁ ନେଇ ବନ ବିଭାଗ ତଦନ୍ତ ଆରମ୍ଭ କରିଛି ।

Following the rescue of orangutans in Balasore, DFO Indalkar Pratik Prakash held a press conference and said no evidence has so far been found to confirm that the orangutans were smuggled. However, the smuggling angle will be investigated thoroughly. Field and veterinary staff are monitoring the health of all the rescued orangutans, and their condition is currently normal. CCTV footage from the incident site and nearby areas will also be examined. As orangutans are not an Indian species, the key focus of the investigation will be to determine how these foreign-origin animals reached Balasore. The Forest Department suspects they may have arrived through land or waterways and has started investigating both possibilities.
