A loud explosion was reported near King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, amid reports of repeated attacks on the airport this week. According to the report, passengers were evacuated from the airport and flight operations were suspended following information from regional authorities about an attack. Thursday’s earlier attack reportedly killed four people, including three Saudi nationals, and damaged a Saudi aircraft. Yemen-based, Iran-backed Houthi rebels had claimed responsibility for previous attacks, but no group has claimed responsibility for the latest explosion so far. Saudi authorities have also not issued an immediate, clear statement about the incident. Amid continuing security concerns, several flights to and from Riyadh have reportedly been cancelled, including some services operated by Etihad Airways and Qatar Airways. The situation remains uncertain as further official information is awaited.
