A unique celebration has taken place in Maharashtra’s Beed district after a baby girl was reportedly born in the Dahiphale family of Parli after nearly 200 years. According to reports, the family had welcomed only male children for five generations. After the newborn and her mother were discharged from hospital, the family brought them home in a specially decorated flower-covered chariot, accompanied by dhol-tasha, music and dancing. The baby has been named Gargi. Her grandfather Limbaji Dahiphale called the birth a matter of great fortune, while her grandmother compared the arrival of her granddaughter to Goddess Lakshmi entering the home.
