The INDIA bloc in Odisha has decided to launch a series of protests in different phases following an all-party opposition meeting held at Congress Bhavan. PCC president Bhakta Charan Das said the date for an Odisha bandh will be announced on September 9 during the INDIA bloc convention at PMG Square. On August 23, INDIA bloc meetings will be held in all districts, followed by public awareness campaigns and mass agitations in mineral-producing districts from August 24. August 25 will be observed as Resistance Day, with protests planned at all district headquarters and in the constituencies of 20 BJP MPs. The BJP has criticised the proposed agitation, saying the Opposition has no real issues and is trying to turn irrelevant matters into political issues.
