Odisha DGP Appointment Hearing: Supreme Court Seeks Clarity on Selection Process

ସୁପ୍ରିମକୋର୍ଟରେ ଓଡ଼ିଶାର ନୂଆ DGP ନିଯୁକ୍ତି ପ୍ରସଙ୍ଗରେ ଆଜି ଶୁଣାଣି ହୋଇଛି। ଓଡ଼ିଶା ସରକାରଙ୍କ ପକ୍ଷରୁ ସଲିସିଟର ଜେନେରାଲ ତୁଷାର ମେହେଟ୍ଟା କୋର୍ଟରେ ଯୁକ୍ତି ଉପସ୍ଥାପନ କରିଛନ୍ତି। DGP ଚୟନ ପ୍ରକ୍ରିୟା, ଅଧିକାରୀଙ୍କ ଯୋଗ୍ୟତା, Eligibility list ଏବଂ ଅନ୍ୟ ସମ୍ପର୍କିତ ପ୍ରସଙ୍ଗରେ ରାଜ୍ୟ ସରକାର ପକ୍ଷ ରଖିଛନ୍ତି। ଶୁଣାଣି ସମୟରେ ଅନେକ ପ୍ରସଙ୍ଗରେ ବିସ୍ତୃତ ଯୁକ୍ତି ଓ ପ୍ରତିଯୁକ୍ତି ହୋଇଛି। ଗତ କିଛି ଦିନର ଶୁଣାଣିରେ ସୁଶାନ୍ତ କୁମାର ନାଥଙ୍କ Exclusion, Integrity Certificate, UPSCକୁ ପଠାଯାଇଥିବା Eligibility list ଏବଂ ex-cadre DGP ପୋଷ୍ଟ ପ୍ରସଙ୍ଗ ମଧ୍ୟ ଆଲୋଚନାରେ ରହିଛି।

The Supreme Court on Thursday heard the matter concerning the appointment process for Odisha’s new Director General of Police (DGP). Solicitor General Tushar Mehta presented the Odisha government’s arguments before the court on the DGP selection process, officers’ eligibility and the list of eligible candidates sent to the UPSC. During the hearing, the court questioned the State government over the exclusion of senior IPS officer Susanta Kumar Nath and the withdrawal of his integrity certificate. The hearing also covered the eligibility list submitted to the UPSC and the creation of temporary ex-cadre DGP posts. The court has adjourned the matter to next week.
