A cyclonic circulation over North Thailand is gradually moving towards the North Andaman Sea and is likely to develop into a low-pressure area by tomorrow evening. According to the Regional Meteorological Centre, the system may intensify and move west-northwestwards, possibly becoming a depression around September 21 or 22 and bringing heavy to very heavy rainfall to Odisha. Orange and yellow warnings have been issued for several districts for September 22, 23 and 24, with winds of 40 to 50 kmph possible during the rain. Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari said it is too early to predict a cyclone and that clarity will come after the low-pressure area forms. Authorities have asked 20 districts to remain alert and advised people not to panic. Various weather models indicate different possible tracks, so the system’s exact intensity and movement remain uncertain.
