The iconic Ramanathaswamy Temple in Rameswaram featured prominently as the backdrop at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi during the BRICS Summit, showcasing India’s spiritual and cultural heritage to global leaders. Prime Minister Narendra Modi welcomed leaders including Russian President Vladimir Putin, Chinese President Xi Jinping, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto and South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, with images of the temple forming the backdrop. PM Modi also explained the significance of the Ramanathaswamy Temple to Xi Jinping. The temple is one of the prominent Hindu pilgrimage sites and one of the 12 Jyotirlingas, with its grand pillared corridors known for their architecture. The temple is also deeply associated with the Ramayana and is traditionally linked to Lord Rama’s worship of Lord Shiva after his victory in Lanka. The temple backdrop has drawn attention as India presents its heritage and cultural identity on the global stage.
