While water levels have receded upstream, the Rushikulya River continues to swell downstream. Floodwaters have decreased in parts of Bhanjanagar, Sorada, Asika, Sheragada and Purushottampur, but several low-lying areas of Chhatrapur and Ganjam blocks are witnessing rising water levels.

The flood threat has increased near the Rushikulya river mouth in Ganjam NAC. A breach began developing near Damodarpur last night. Local youths are using a JCB machine to plug the breach and prevent further flooding. OTV correspondent Silu Biswal reports on the situation.
