In parts of Odisha once known for ganja cultivation, indigenous black rice is now bringing a new ray of hope. Varieties such as Kalabati, Kala Moli and Kala Jeera are being cultivated, with black rice selling for around ₹100 per kg, according to the source. Tribal women in Malkangiri and Koraput are turning the traditional crop into a new livelihood opportunity.
