Severe flooding has wreaked havoc in Sorada, Ganjam district, as the swollen Rushikulya River surged into villages in the middle of the night. By morning, several areas were submerged, with floodwater inundating the ground floors of homes and sweeping away gas cylinders, refrigerators and other household belongings. The powerful current overwhelmed embankments and carried away whatever came in its path. Residents faced a terrifying situation as floodwater rushed through village streets, with reports of people being swept along by the strong currents.
