“They Were Fighting, So We Broke the Liquor Den,” Say Women Protesters

#ମାରପିଟ୍_କରୁଥିଲେ_ମଦ_ଭାଟି_ଭାଙ୍ଗିଦେଲୁ
ବାଲେଶ୍ୱର ଜିଲ୍ଲା ଭୋଗରାଇ ବ୍ଲକ ନହରା ଗ୍ରାମରେ ଚୋରା ମଦ ବିକ୍ରିକୁ ନେଇ ତୀବ୍ର ଅସନ୍ତୋଷ। ଗ୍ରାମରେ ଚୋରା ମଦ ବିକ୍ରି ହେଉଥିବା ଅଭିଯୋଗ କରି ଗ୍ରାମବାସୀ ଓ SHG ମହିଳାମାନେ ଏକଜୁଟ ହୋଇ ପ୍ରତିବାଦ କରିଛନ୍ତି। ମଦ ବିକ୍ରି ବନ୍ଦ କରିବା ସହ ଘରେ ଘରେ ରଖାଯାଇଥିବା ମଦକୁ ନଷ୍ଟ କରିଥିବା ଜଣାପଡ଼ିଛି।

There is strong resentment over alleged illegal liquor sales in Nahara village under Bhograi block of Balasore district. Villagers and Self-Help Group (SHG) women came together to protest, alleging that illicit liquor was being sold in the village and causing trouble, including fights. The protesters demanded that liquor sales be stopped and reportedly destroyed liquor kept in houses in the village. The women said they broke the liquor den as they alleged that people were getting involved in fights after consuming liquor.
