Why did the devastating flood suddenly hit Nepal? Nepal’s National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA) has cited an analysis by Planet Labs pointing to a possible cause. According to the analysis, an ice or glacial avalanche occurred near the Nepal-China border, around 20 kilometres northeast of Rasuwagadhi. The finding is being cited as a possible explanation for the sudden and destructive rise in water that triggered the devastating flood.
