7-Year-Old Girl Rescued After 36-Hour Search; Accused Arrested in Cuttack

A seven-year-old girl who went missing from Cuttack Railway Station has been safely rescued after a 36-hour non-stop search operation by Commissionerate Police. Choudwar Police rescued the minor from Balikuda and arrested the accused, Raj Kishore Nayak. The girl had gone missing on August 29 when her family went to get food at the railway station; after failing to find her, the family lodged a complaint with the GRP on August 30 and later at Chawliaganj Police Station. GRP, RPF and Commissionerate Police launched a joint operation involving 10 teams. Police examined more than 100 CCTV recordings from stations across Cuttack, Bhubaneswar and Khordha and also used a dog squad. The investigation eventually led police to the elderly man seen in the CCTV footage. Police said the accused had changed his appearance to conceal his identity before they reached him, but he eventually admitted to the crime.
