Koraput is likely to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall on September 23 and 24 due to the low-pressure system over the Bay of Bengal. An orange warning is in place till the morning of September 23, followed by a red warning till the morning of September 25. The district administration has directed government officials and employees not to leave headquarters without permission till September 25. Hospitals in low-lying areas have been asked to stock emergency medicines, while arrangements are being made for pregnant women at nearby CHCs or Maa Gruhas. Preparations are also underway for possible rain and landslide situations, with water levels in four dams being monitored.
