A unique tradition continues in Rajnagar, Kendrapara, Odisha, where devotees bid farewell to Maa Durga through the traditional Chapa Khela ritual on the Hansua River. More than 200 years old, this remarkable custom is performed amid the sounds of bells, mridanga and devotional kirtan, without DJ music or item dances. After seven rounds of Chapa Khela on the river, the idol is immersed, keeping the region’s rich cultural heritage alive.
