Odisha may face a cyclone threat in the Bay of Bengal as an active cyclonic circulation is expected to develop into a low-pressure area by October 23. Weather expert Surendra Nath Pashupalak says it could intensify into a depression on October 26 and possibly a cyclone on the night of October 27 or October 28. Some international weather models indicate a possible landfall along the Andhra Pradesh–Odisha coast, potentially between Jagatsinghpur and Ganjam, but the system’s intensity, track and landfall location remain uncertain. The India Meteorological Department has not yet forecast a cyclone, stating that the low-pressure system may intensify further. Regional Meteorological Centre Director Manorama Mohanty said rain is likely across several parts of Odisha from October 26, with yellow warnings issued for 13 districts on October 26, eight on October 27 and 12 on October 28. The report also recalls the 1999 Super Cyclone, Phailin, Titli and Dana. If a cyclone forms this year, it will be named Arnab.
