On the occasion of Nandotsav, Kankan Sikhari in Chilika transformed into Gopapuri, recreating the divine episode of Vasudeva crossing the waters with newborn Lord Krishna. Carrying the newborn Kala Shrimukha on his head, Vasudeva walked through the deep waters of Chilika and crossed the lake, bringing alive the sacred tale for devotees and visitors.
