NH-16 in Odisha’s Balasore district has allegedly turned into an illegal parking zone, with thousands of trucks occupying both sides of the highway. The report says around four of the 10 lanes are blocked, creating traffic problems and raising serious road-safety concerns.

Local residents, including Umakant Panda and Suresh Das, have alleged that repeated accidents have claimed more than five lives and injured over 15 people on the Bampada–Mangalpur Chowk stretch over the past year. A recent truck accident also reportedly killed five cattle.
