Powerful Cyclone Likely Near South Odisha Coast on October 28, Heavy Rain Forecast

ଆସନ୍ତା ୨୬ ତାରିଖରେ ବାତ୍ୟାର ରୂପ ନେବ ବଙ୍ଗୋପସାଗରେ ସୃଷ୍ଟ ଲଘୁଚାପ। ୨୮ ତାରିଖ ସକାଳ ବେଳକୁ ସମ୍ଭାବ୍ୟ ବାତ୍ୟା ଦକ୍ଷିଣ ଓଡ଼ିଶା ଉପକୂଳ ପାଖାପାଖି ପହଞ୍ଚିବ। ସେତେବେଳକୁ ପବନର ବେଗ ଘଣ୍ଟା ପ୍ରତି ୯୦ କିଲୋମିଟର ରହିପାରେ ବୋଲି ଆକଳନ କରାଯାଉଛି। ପରବର୍ତ୍ତୀ ସମୟରେ ଏହା ଆହୁରି ଶକ୍ତିଶାଳୀ ହୋଇ ସ୍ଥଳଭାଗ ଅତିକ୍ରମ କରିବାର ସମ୍ଭାବନା ରହିଛି ବୋଲି କହିଛନ୍ତି IMD DG ମୃତ୍ୟୁଞ୍ଜୟ ମହାପାତ୍ର।
A low-pressure area has formed over the east-central Bay of Bengal and adjoining southeast Bay of Bengal. According to IMD Director General Dr Mrutyunjay Mohapatra, the system is likely to intensify into a depression tomorrow, a deep depression on October 25, and a cyclonic storm on October 26. It is expected to reach near the north Andhra Pradesh and South Odisha coasts by the morning of October 28. Wind speeds are currently estimated at 35–45 kmph and may increase to 70–80 kmph by the morning of October 26, with gusts reaching 90 kmph. Winds may strengthen further as the system approaches the coast. The IMD has not yet forecast the wind speed at landfall. The storm's likely track and intensity are expected to become clearer after the system develops into a depression. Heavy rainfall is forecast across Odisha from October 27 to 29.
