Ravenshaw University authorities have added back the name of Swapnarani Pradhan, the AIDSO-backed candidate for student union president, to the revised list of candidates after rejecting her nomination during scrutiny a day earlier. Pradhan and her supporters staged an indefinite hunger strike, alleging that her nomination papers were valid and that her candidature had been deliberately rejected. Following the protest, the university authorities published a revised list today, restoring her name. However, the university has not issued any official explanation for the initial rejection or the subsequent correction. The development has drawn attention to the nomination scrutiny process for the student union elections at Ravenshaw University in Odisha.
