The BJP staged protests at several places across Odisha over allegations that Congress disrespected ‘Vande Mataram’ during the Independence Day programme at the AICC office in Delhi. Protests were held in Bhubaneswar, Nuapada, Kendrapara and Nabarangpur, with BJP workers also burning effigies of Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge. In Bhubaneswar, BJP Yuva Morcha and the Bhubaneswar organisational district BJP held a silent march from the BJP state office to Congress Bhavan, with protesters carrying placards and wearing black bands. Protest marches were also held in Nuapada and Nabarangpur, while a procession and effigy burning took place in Kendrapara. Congress has responded to the BJP’s allegations.
